PENSACOLA – GridSouth Networks has redefined the world of high-speed Internet in Pensacola and the Gulf Coast region. The company is now providing its customers Internet connections that reach the blistering speed of 100 megabits per second (Mbps) or about 30 times faster than a typical DSL or cable modem and 85 times faster than a T1! That means business users can say goodbye to long download and upload times, and take advantage of tools like real-time videoconferencing and other technological advances that are impossible or time-consuming at slower speeds.

The 100 Mbps speed is made possible in part by fiber optic connections currently available in several local office buildings including the Blount Building, Seville Tower and Quietwater Office Park in Gulf Breeze. Service is also available in Baldwin County, Mobile, New Orleans, and many other locations along the Gulf Coast. For businesses or offices that are not reachable by fiber optic connections, GridSouth can install point-to-point wireless connections that offer the same high-speed service.
Prices for the service range from $1000 to $2400 per month depending on the location, number of users and other factors. Several local businesses, including Shell, Fleming, David & Menge, TechSoft and AppRiver, are using GridSouth already and Smith said others are in the process of connecting. After ordering the service, customers can usually be online within 30 to 60 days or less, depending on their location.
Members of the Pensacola Bay Area Chamber of Commerce and the Gulf Breeze Area Chamber of Commerce receive a 10% discount on the GridConnect portion of their monthly bill. This will save most members about $120 per month in costs.
